Madison County, Come Celebrate! Madison County, come celebrate! Join us and your neighbors from across the community for an afternoon honoring 250 years of American democracy. We're thrilled to welcome Justice Anita Earls, candidate for reelection to the NC Supreme Court, as our guest speaker. Then stay for the party. We'll have a taco bar, live music from Steve Davidowski and Friends and punk rock band Subject to Change, and the kind of fellowship that reminds us what makes this place so special. This is a community event and all are welcome, regardless of party or politics. 2026 MCDP Scholarship We are proud to announce Kalan Cody of Marshall as the recipient of the Madison County Democratic Party Scholarship. Kalan is a graduating senior at Madison High School, where he has earned a weighted GPA of 4.645 and holds the distinction of being ranked first in his class of 87 students. His academic record is nothing short of exceptional including a course load packed with honors, AP, and college-level coursework across nearly every subject, from calculus and physics to American history, sociology, and economics. Beyond his academic achievement, Kalan is a thoughtful and engaged young citizen. In his scholarship essay, he reflects with real maturity on what it means to be a voter in Madison County attending candidate forums, researching local races, and understanding that civic responsibility doesn't end at the ballot box. He writes about the issues that matter most to Madison County residents, from Hurricane Helene recovery to housing affordability and school funding, with the kind of grounded perspective that comes from being truly rooted in this community. Kalan plans to continue his education and carries with him a deep understanding of why local democracy matters. We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing all that he will contribute. To his education, to Madison County, and to the republic we are all called to keep.  by Sara Sagar on her trip to the 11th Democratic Convention It’s going to take all of us working together, in every capacity we have available to each of us, to win votes for Democratic candidates in the upcoming midterm elections and beyond. This message was the common thread in every candidate statement made at the 11th Democratic Convention on May 9. 2026. Jamie Ager, Candidate for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District and the Convention’s Keynote Speaker, focused on issues that were echoed by other candidates’ statements, including Eric Ager, current NC House Representative:
It’s imperative for everyone to understand the huge importance of Judicial races and remember to vote ALL the way down the ballot. The judicial races are critically important. Thank you to the Jackson County Democratic Party for hosting the Convention at beautiful Smoky Mountain High School in Sylva, NC.
